by Victor Fernandez, CCIR International Media on 1 Aug 2008
One of the colourful Beneteau 40.7s newly launched by CCIR CCIR
On 31st July 2008 a sailing yachts came into the sea area nearby the Shenzhen Vanke Longcheer Yacht Club, it is a creative and fashionable yacht with blue and red color, changing the view of Daya Bay because it’s different from the other white yachts with gray sails. At this moment, this yacht caught everyone’s eyes, people were arrested to look on it, took photos of it, and get onboard to experience. The sailors’ thinking was enlightened by this fashionable sailing yacht. Well, a sailing yacht can be sailed like that!

This novel appearance was designed especially for the 30 Beneteau First 40.7 yachts for the One Design Class race by the CCIR Organizing Committee this year. Because of this class race, the Committee organized a children’s painting competition for the purpose of yacht appearance design - 'Let childhood lightens the sea'. Children were invited to design the hull and sail of the yacht. The organizing committee hopes that children’s unlimited imagine can express the freedom of sailing. The gold prize work from the painting competition has been applied to this fashionable yacht, embellished by reputable designer Mr. Han Jiaying, it gathers the puerile imagine with the mature design idea. We believe this painting will sail in the second China Cup International Regatta with extraordinary splendour.

This gold prize work uses is 'water, human, sun and moon', chosen seriously by many artists, including the Deputy president Ms. Wu Xiaoyan from Hongkong Committee for Promoting Children’s Art Education; the artist Mr. Yan Yichun from China Artists Association and so on. It’s the first time Mr. Hang Jiaying design for sailing yacht, he highly praised the drawings of this competition, he said, 'The true meaning of the sea is expressed clearly by the children’s drawing, especially, the gold prize award-work covers the connotation of the sea—water, human and so on. For the design of sailing yacht, functionality and beauty should be considered, during the period of design, the yacht should be imagined it’s sailing on the open sea, the white yacht on the sea is beautiful enough, but blue and red showed on the sea can strike the eyes better.' Besides the gold prize, other designs are displayed; every works has its unique visual angle of art, to set out different children’s world to the guests.

With the water-testing of the fashionable yachts, China Cup International Regatta Organizing Committee held the welcome the sailing yachts and water-testing ceremony—'Set the sail with honor, Let childhood lightens the sea.' China Cup has bought 20 new Beneteau First 40.7 Yachts, and the first 3 new yachts have arrived Shenzhen from France, and the other 17 yachts will arrive in the next 2 months. Mr Ke Gangming, as known as the welcome the Deputy director-general of Executive Authority. Organizing Committee of the 26th Summer Universidad (Shenzhen) attended the ceremony and gave a speech. Mr. Zou Zhaolong, as known as the Hollywood movie star was invited to the ceremony to award the gold prize. The silver prize, bronze prize and other children’s designs were showed on the ceremony, too.

After the awarding ceremony, people witness the water-testing of the sailing yacht which bears the surprising fancy of the children. This is the first time of world to let the children design the yachts for racing in international yacht. Mr. Zou Zhaolong thought 'he loves sailing sport very much, he realized the situation of the China Cup and has been interested in it, he thinks sailing means the communication between men and sea. At present he is trained at the base of China Cup for sailing. When he receive the invitation from China Cup, he accepted it immediately, and he won’t refuse to be the prolocutor of China Cup International Regatta.

Mr. Luo Jinhui, as known as the famous screenwriter of TVB. Honkong told people his story of racing in the King’s Cup, that attracted the guests, especially the people who never be in touch with sailing. The whole activity was arranged thoroughly, that indicated the professional capacity of organizing committee of China Cup International Regatta.

China Cup International Regatta is organized by Chinese Yachting Association, Executive Authority, Organization Committee of the 26th Summer World University Games, Shenzhen; managed by Shenzhen Administration of Sport, Shenzhen Across Four Oceans Business Consulting Co.Ltd.
