An interview with Belinda Stowell (AUS), gold medalist at the Olympic Games 2000 in Sydney, in the 470 Women's, is the Australian 470 Junior coach.

Kuba Pawluk: For the begining, few worlds about your career in 470.

Belinda Stowell: My career on 470 was fantastic and it lasted from '97 to 2004 when I was sailing. And it was probably one of the best times in my life, specially in 2000, because winning is always the best. Specially winning the pinnacle of the sport - The Olympic Games. And for me being able to win at home, in Sydney, was amazing and something that I carry with me for the rest of my life. 470 sailing has thought me so much, it set me up for the life, and many skills and so much fun. So thats the main thing.

KP: So maybe now few worlds about 470 sailing class in general?

BS: I think the 470 class is very good entry class for Olympic sailing. And the sailors come from junior classes to 470 if they like to be double handed, 470 is a fantastic class for people to get into Olympic sailing and to learn so much about the sport, about tactics and strategy, and equipment, so it sets them up very well for being able to sail another class after that or sail anything, they can go to big boats, they can go to single handed, they can do anything. They can understand so much about all aspects of sailing.

KP: What do you think about sailing area and sailing conditions?

BS: Sailing conditions? Looks like a great place to sail, I wish I was sailing. I think the wind is being great, I think you have ordered the wind perfectly, so you have very good conditions. And the wind is being good, the waves are fine and I think all the sailors are having a good time.
