THE WOMEN'S MISTRAL TRIO KEEP BREAKING AWAY

by Isabelle Musy on 21 Sep 2000
It was another good day for the women's mistral trio composed of German Amelie Lux, Italian Alessandra Sensini and New-Zealander Barbara Kendall who keep breaking away from the rest of the 29 nation fleet.

The three girls look to be the likely three medallists of the class in these Sydney 2000 Olympic Games as they've been impressively consistent sharing the top three places among themselves.

Current world champion, Sensini snatched her third victory in this regatta today in race 7 sailed on course B off Bradley's Head.

Later on it was Kendall's turn to grab another win in race 8.

The 23 year old, Amelie Lux, who is known for excelling in light air, proves to be at her ease on the Sydney harbour waters, as she hasn't shown any weaknesses yesterday when the breeze was much stronger.

The German girl had some good 2nd and 3rd place result today and therefore remains the overall leader of her class.

It will be an intense fight over the gold medal among these three contenders within the next three days.

Australia's Jessica Crisp has dropped from 5th to 9th in the point's stable after finishing in 16th in race 8 today.
