Yamaha on the move and that's always good news

Yamaha’s latest offering, the F250B four-stroke outboard with all the primary features to make it a winner. SW
There’s been plenty of recent action from outboard engine heavyweight Yamaha Motor Australia and the company’s latest offering is sure to hit the right chord with those planning on an engine upgrade.

The second-generation four-stroke F250hpB outboard has been released and features Yamaha’s superb digital electronic remote control for enhanced operation and reliability.

Based on the proven 3.3-litre V6 engine from the innovative F250A, the new F250B offers an array of technological advances for smooth throttle operation, responsive performance and silky smooth and reliable gear shifting.

The digital electronic remote control is at the heart of the new engine and is governed by Yamaha’s sophisticated Engine Control Module (ECM); throttle control and gear shift is digitally controlled through a remote electronic box linked to the throttle lever.

Throttle response is greatly improved when precise control is required, such as crossing bars or trolling offshore at low speeds.

The F250B features a variable trolling rpm switch on its digital tachometer which adjusts trolling speed as desired in increments of 50rpm between 600 and 1000rpm.

Brett Hampson, national sales and marketing manager for marine products at Yamaha, said the company had made 'numerous technical advancements' since the first release of the F250A.

'Consequently, our F250 was due for an upgrade,' he explained.

'Boat owners are going to love the smooth power on tap from the F250B and for applications where the engine is continually in and out of gear, the digital shift control delivers greater reliability than ever,' he added.

The onboard ECM also governs Yamaha’s multi-point fuel injection system, which enables precise control of fuel/air mixture depending on load and speed, to increase combustion efficiency for improved performance.

Faster acceleration is achieved rough the use of long air intake manifolds and Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) to boost low and mid range torque.

The 24-valve double over-head camshaft also provides greater valve timing control for clean and powerful combustion.

Yamaha’s new F250B is available in standard right hand rotation and in counter rotation form for dual installations, with both offered in 25' and 30' transom versions.

All Yamaha four-stroke outboards carry the company’s four-year manufacturer’s warranty.
