One Sails UK to join North Sails UK in Gosport

Following an incredibly busy few years at North Sails UK, the company have further enhanced their sales support in the custom and super yacht sails area by recruiting John Brinkers and Mike Henning from One Sails UK.

As of 1 July 2008, John Brinkers will be closing the One Sails UK facility in Swanwick Marina to become part of the North Sails UK group in Gosport.

John Brinkers grew up in Hong Kong where he served his apprenticeship with Gaastra Sails and later joined UK Sailmakers in Hong Kong as General Manager. With a passion for detail and quality he quickly built up UK Sailmakers, Hong Kong into one of the biggest lofts in the world with over 50 staff.

He has more than 27 years of sail making under his belt and has competed internationally at the top level of the sport in classes from the Etchells, Flying 15 and Dragon to X99, ¾ ton, 1 ton, Swan’s and Farr 45’s along with the Admirals Cup, Voile de St.Tropez and offshore epics such as the Sydney Hobart and the Fastnet Race.

John Brinkers comments: 'I am very pleased to be joining North Sails, our clients will be able to tap into the vast technical expertise and product line up that is on offer, and the personal opportunities for me and my staff are tremendous.'
