Maritimo's 500 Offshore Convertible

When Maritimo released its awesome battlewagon, the Maritimo 550, it became the ‘Top Gun’ in Australia’s leading game fishing tournaments.

Now, scheduled for its NSW debut at the 2008 Sydney International Boat Show, the company is launching the compact Maritimo 500 Offshore Convertible, the ‘Son of a Gun’, giving blue water sportsmen an additional choice when considering a hard-charging battlewagon.

The Maritimo 500 offers an interior remarkably similar to that of its larger 550, with the cockpit and saloon only slightly smaller.

Forward accommodations areas, comprising the port side master stateroom, forward double stateroom and starboard cabin with upper and lower berths, offer much the same space as that aboard the larger boat.

The flying bridge has been planned to suit the game fishing skipper, with the aft positioned helm giving an unobstructed view back and over the cockpit, vital when backing down on a fighting billfish.

Ample space allows for several guests to enjoy the action from the ‘bridge, with comfortable sofas and clear vision thanks to the big windows all round.

The helm console has been designed to accommodate all the marine electronics a skipper may require.

Access below, of course, is via the Maritimo ‘trademark’, the highly polished, internal timber staircase which offers easy access above and below whatever the weather.

The main saloon area is a delight, beautifully fitted and furnished and featuring joinery work that is a credit to the craftsmen and women involved.

As befits a true blue battlewagon there is no lower helm and solid fibreglass forward instead of windows.

A mix of imported leathers and plush upholstery, chosen as much for durability as appearance, gives the Maritimo 500 a genuine touch of class and style.

The efficiently planned engine room, easily accessed from a cockpit hatch, houses either C12 Caterpillar 715hp engines or Cummins QSM 11 power plants of 670hp.

Whichever engines one chooses, the Maritimo 500 Offshore Convertible remains a nimble blue water performer, topping 30 knots with ease.

Depending on power and options, the 500 will retail about $400,000 less than Maritimo’s ‘Great White’, the awesome 550 battlewagon.

Maritimo CEO Bill Barry-Cotter believes the 500 Offshore Convertible will win its market share for three very good reasons; 'It will offer superior performance, better fuel economy and a more competitive price than its competitors,' he declared.
