Hugo Boss visits new Gosport Marina

New Open 60 and Superyacht Visitor Berths at Haslar Marina, Portsmouth Harbour SW

Dean & Reddyhoff who currently operate three marinas on the South Coast – Haslar Marina, East Cowes Marina and Weymouth Marina – has this week opened a new 95-metre hammerhead pontoon at Haslar Marina at Gosport in Portsmouth Harbour.

One of the first visitors to the new facility was Alex Thompson with his Open 60, Hugo Boss - Alex commented,

'Dean & Reddyhoff has supported my sailing campaigns for over ten years, by providing me with berthing and shore side facilities at Haslar Marina. With such easy access to the Solent there really is no better place for us to be based in the build up to the Vendee Globe at the end of this year. The installation of the new deep water pontoon is a real bonus for the Hugo Boss team and I’m sure it will prove really popular with both Open 60 sailors and visiting superyachts.'

With an average depth of six metres below chart datum, the new pontoon can cater for yachts in excess of 200ft – or a fleet of as many as ten IMOCA Open 60s without the need to raft. All berths will be fully serviced with water and electricity bollards plus WiFi broadband.

Dean & Reddyhoff has been chosen to build and operate a new 600-berth marina in Portland Harbour, part of the venue for hosting the Sailing Events of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Opening in 2008-09, Portland Marina will also be equipped to cater for the top end of the boating market, with berthing, lift-out, and storage for vessels of up to 50 metres, as well as undercover dry stack for around 170 boats.
