As the internet has taken over as the primary news and information source, an increasing number of marine service companies are staking a claim for a place online.
A new contender is the website yachtandboat.com.au, which after only being online a few months claims to have the largest online listing of new boats for sale in Australia.
With some 800,000 registered boat owners in Australia, the creators of Yacht and Boat says they found it surprising that there was no central information website for the industry. Subsequent research showed that 75% of Australians surveyed who could afford to enter the boating market chose not to because they didn’t know where to start!
Until now information, services and resources for Australian boating, marine and aquatic enthusiast were fragmented into market and geographical segments.
Rebecca Jones, the YachtAndBoat Gewneral manager says the site is a new, totally independent ‘one-stop-shop’ catering to the entire Australian boating, marine and aquatic market with national information, resources and services such as:
• Classifieds – (currently FREE) for both boating & equipment
• Licensing and Registration Information
• Safety information and equipment
• Current News (courtesy of Marine Business News, Powerboat-World and Sail-World) and Weather
• Marine Business Directory
• Competitions, Recipes
• Online store supporting Australian innovation with many of the products featuring on the ABC’s The New Inventors – including The Wombat Anchor System and The Ganat Swing Away Steering Console
'We see a benefit to the boating community in offering affordable services to all boating enthusiasts, whether they have a fishing rod or a super yacht.' says Jones.
She continued 'Yacht and Boat aims to de-fragment the industry by becoming an information hub of services and products that meet the diverse needs of the boating community.
'By delivering relevant information in a logical, easily accessible format; we intend to introduce more people into the boating community whilst cultivating a safer and more enjoyable environment for all Australians on the water.'
