Sardinian mistral stops Farr 40 Cup Day 2 racing

Day Two of the Audi Farr 40 Cup organized by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda in collaboration with the Farr 40 European Fleet saw the infamous Sardinian mistral blow in at over 30 knots.

After several hours of waiting and with no sign of a respite the Race Committee was forced to abandon racing for the day.

The 12 owners and crews competing in the Audi Farr 40 Cup, which is the second leg of the European Circuit Mediterranean, will be hoping that this Friday the 13th passes quickly and tomorrow brings the predicted 15 to 20 knots of mistral. Only seven points separate the top five boats so the podium is still wide open.

With three races completed on Day One the Race Committee will be under pressure to fit in at least one race tomorrow in order for this series to be valid as part of the European Circuit Mediterranean.

The wait will be made less taxing for owners and crews tonight as they attend the Audi and Yacht Club Costa Smeralda dinner at the YCCS Clubhouse overlooking Porto Cervo Marina.
