Discover Beautiful Sailing in Ireland

Clean water, sheltered harbours and a dramatic coastline make Ireland one of the best places for sailing anywhere in Europe. Global Yacht Training has got limited crew places left on Yachtmaster Courses where you can experience an exciting extended sailing passage from the South Coast of England to the beautiful sailing grounds of Cork, Long Island Bay and Bantry Bay.

The course starts in May and will provide you with all the skills and experience needed to pass your RYA Yachtmaster exam. You will benefit from training in some of the most challenging tidal waters in the world, including the Celtic Sea, the South Coast of England, The Scilly Isles, The English Channel and the Channel Islands, France and the lovely Normandy Coastline.

As an island nation Ireland has a long tradition of seafaring and, in addition to the major ports, the coastline is surrounded by plethora of smaller fishing harbours and unspoilt bays and inlets. Many of these are now also used for recreational purposes, largely as bases for inshore sailing, which makes for a fantastic sailing trip as well as providing good experience for yachtmaster students.

Details of the Ireland Yachtmaster courses:

Start date: 12/05/08
Course duration: 12 weeks

Start date: 2/06/08
Course duration: 10weeks

If the full length yachtmaster courses are not what you are after you can still build your experience and log valuable tidal miles by joining us for a three week mile-building cruise to Ireland in July. Traverse the Solent, sail the beautiful south coast of England and the West Country before crossing the infamous Celtic Sea. You will sail past the infamous Fastnet Rock and into Cork on the southern Irish Coast to explore a few Irish ports before heading back to the Isles of Scilly and home.

You could finish the passage with the following qualifications depending on your previous experience, the weather and what you want to get out it:

RYA Competent Crew
RYA Coastal Skipper (depending on experience)
RYA Yachtmaster Qualifying Passages
Spinnaker handling skills
1000 miles sailed
