North Sails new 3Dtc™ Sails for greater durability
by Julian Plante on 15 Apr 2008
North Sails revolutionary new 3Dtc™ is a breakthrough in sail construction that makes 3DL© and 3Dr™ sails more durable and versatile.
With an additional internal core of tough, lightweight woven taffeta, 3Dtc™ sails will hold their shape and maintain durability which is often affected in other products by constant furling, flaking, folding and flogging.
Previously 3DL sails were available with option of woven taffeta on one or both sides of the sail. With 3Dtc™, the woven taffeta is now found laminated with the structural yarns in between the Mylar layers. Consequently water absorption and mildew staining of the taffeta are eliminated, keeping the sail lighter and better looking!
North’s new 3Dtc™ is the only sail available worldwide that combines the durability of taffeta; its resistance to tear and chafe; with the unmatched strength and shape holding of 3DL and 3Dr sail products.
