The latest supermaxi, from the board of Argentina’s Juan Kouyoumdjian has been unveiled in a very wet Auckland, New Zealand, today.
Built by Glenfield's Cookson Boats the 98ft canting keelboat named Speedboat is for a yet unannounced US owner.
She is being lifted onto her keel today and is expected to be launched and sea-trialled in Auckland over the coming weeks before being shipped to USA.
Kouyoumdjian is the designer of ABN Amro One, winner of the last Volvo Ocean Race and also the designer of the second generation Volvo Open 70, named Ericsson 3 which was launched last February in Barcelona.
Established in 1974, Cooksons are a long established yard in Glenfield, North Shore City, New Zealand. They are specialists in the construction of custom hi-tech racing yachts including America's Cup yachts for Emirates Team New Zealand, and the well performed Cookson 50. They also constructed the Elliott designed supermaxi, Maximus. (See www.cooksonboats.co.nz)
