If you're cruising Auckland's inner Waitemata harbour this weekend - keep a watchful eye for these guys... they won't be cruising. Capable of reaching speeds of 30knots the 12ft skiff offers spectacular racing, thrills and spills and the forecast of 15knot breezes for Friday's start to racing will see plenty of action.
The new boat charge will be lead by 'Nice Action Too' and 'Carbon Sequestration', both of which have continued development since the interdominions in Wellington where the showed plenty of promise but were inconsistent performers.
Interdominon Champ Alex Vallings on Nuplex has a new mystery crew with Jero (Jeremy Smith) currently offshore. Can they emulate their commanding performance of Wellington?
A handy fleet of Wellingtonians is travelling up lead by Steve Hogg and Roger Barnes in Romulus who performed so well in the Wellington Interdominions.
Finally there is the 'Battle of the Shirt' between Auckland's Simon Ganley (Dimension Polyant) and Wellington's Glen Armstrong (As Good As It Gets). Its down to the wire in this two way battle for supremacy - whose face will be on the shirt bragging that he is a better sailor than the wearer. Who will be loser and suffer the humiliation for the 2008-09 season?
Head for Orakei Wharf, North Head or grab a fat boys boat and catch the action....
