The flight crew from the Royal Australian Air Force's (RAAF) Orion plane
under its commander, squadron leader Ian Roberts also reported once they
landed at their base: 'THE MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS OF AMER SPORTS ONE WAS
CONFIRMED AS WERE POSITION COURSE AND SPEED. CREW WERE ESTABLISHED IN
AREA AND ONSTA CALLED AT T221240Z. RADAR CONTACT WAS GAINED AT T221253Z
AND CONVERTED TO A VISUAL HOMING AT T221257Z. VHF COMMS ON CH16 WERE
ESTABLISHED. THE FIRST HELIBOX DROP WAS MADE AT T221305Z. AFTER THIS
DROP THE PROCEDURE FOR DROPS WAS REFINED FROM A MLA RUN TO A PASS 45
DEGREES ACROSS THE BOW OF THE VESSEL WITH THE DROP TAKING PLACE ON THE
WINDWARD SIDE WHICH MADE COLLECTION OF THE HELIBOXES BY THE VESSEL
EASIER. ALL SUBSEQUENT DROPS WERE ASSESSED AS BEING IN THE OPTIMUM
LOCATION FOR RECOVERY BY THE VESSEL. SEVEN BOXES WERE DROPPED WITH THE
LAST TAKING PLACE AT T221331Z. THE CREW CONFIRMED THAT ALL SEVEN BOXES
HAD BEEN RECEIVED INTACT AND THE REQUIRED AMOUNT OF SUPPLIES HAD BEEN
RECEIVED BY AMER SPORTS ONE. CREW WERE CLEARED TO DEPART BY AMER SPORTS
ONE AT T221333Z AND DEPARTED THE AREA CONDUCTING UNEVENTFUL RTB. MISSION
WAS OVERALL ASSESSEDAS SUCCESSFUL.'
