Audi Sydney Harbour regatta appeals to all classes

Esteemed Australian yacht builder Sydney Yachts will be well-represented at the Audi Sydney Harbour Regatta with 18 of the sleek performance racing yachts taking to the water on the weekend of March 1 & 2.

The Audi Sydney Habour Regatta is Sydney’s largest sailing event and kicks off a week of celebrations for Sydney Harbour Week. 250 yachts will race in 20 different divisions over the weekend.

Twelve Sydney 38’s will be competing in the one design class while six Sydney 32 yachts will race in a separate division.

Hoping to perform well in the Sydney 38 one design class is Warwick Rooklyn from Ichi Ban.

“After winning the Sydney 38 Twilight Regatta earlier this season, we believe we have a good shot at winning a place,” said Mr Rooklyn.

“The Audi Sydney Harbour Regatta is a significant event as it is the only sailing regatta in Australia that encompasses all the different sailing classes.”

“With only two days of racing, competitors in this regatta need to get on their game quickly to achieve a good result,” he said.

One Sydney 38 competitor who is confident that their game will be on is Cameron Miles from Rush.

“I don’t often say it… but this year Rush is going to win.”

“The only challenge that we may experience are the light winds that Sydney could encounter at this time of the year,” said Mr Miles.

Roger Hickman from Limit said his team is looking forward to racing on Sydney Harbour.

“There is a lot of traffic on the harbour which means it is a lot of fun.”

“This regatta is fantastic as it brings together all the different clubs that sail in the Sydney Harbour,” said Mr Hickman.
