Welcome to the  February update.

We have a new member in our team, Lisa Clark, who has joined us for a five month secondment as an Environmental Educator. Lisa joins us courtesy of the Ministry of Education and will be working on the development of a secondary school teachers' resource as well as implementing our Care for our Coast programme with primary and intermediate schools.

2008 Leadership Launches:

Plans for the 2008 Leadership Awards are gathering momentum. The first launch, in partnership with the Trans-Tasman Business Circle, is being held in Auckland on the 5th of March. Our guest speaker is Alan Gibbs. The lunch is from 12.00-2.00pm at the Langham Hotel. Alan is one of New Zealand's most successful entrepreneurs and is the Founder and Chairman of Gibbs Technologies Ltd. Nominations for the Sir Peter Blake Leadership Awards open on the 5th of March. Nomination forms for The Blake Medal and the Sir Peter Blake Emerging Leader Awards will be available on the Trust website. Nominations close on the 31st of May.

Further details of other national launches are featured on the ::Trust website::

Care For Our Coast Programme:

It has been a marvelous summer in New Zealand this year and beaches, lake and river edges have been well utilised. The Care for our Coast programme is a chance to remind all those 'coast goers' to care for their local environment. The primary school resource, developed in 2007, has gone to schools nationwide and will be implemented in the classroom over the year to help with coastal awareness for younger generations.

Youth Environment Forum:

This annual event, in partnership with the Ministry for the Environment, will be held 27th April - 1st of May in Wellington. There will be an exciting line up of environmental activities and projects for the delegates. All sixteen regional councils in New Zealand are invited to select three young environmental leaders (15-17yrs) to represent their region at this national forum. For selection details, contact your regional council, Contact details are available: ::log on to the Trust website::

Green tip for the month

www.blackle.com is an alternative google search engine that uses less power. It produces a black screen instead of the traditional google white screen. There are also some interesting power saving tips on the blackle site - give it go!

Kind regards,

Vicki, Laura and Lisa
