Mariner Boating, the Boating Holiday specialists are offering you the opportunity to join them on the Tonga Kalia Yacht Rally from July 20 - July 31 2008.

One of the best kept secret of the Pacific sailing from the Vava'u on flat seas where trade winds blow year round.

Situated 240 Km north of the main island of Tongatapu where two thirds of Tonga's population lives, this beautiful uplifted coral island is the base from which your sailing begins.

The easy pace of life in this South Pacific billabong will be your holiday tonic during a cruise that will add just a little racing to ten days of island style feasting, whale watching, snorkeling, diving, fishing, kayaking and lazing around on pure white sand beaches.

Join more than 300 Humpback whales on their leisurely cruise through the Vava’u Island group. They make a great spectacle as they cavort with their calves and future mates.

The 60 islands of the Vava’u group create the perfect setting for a yacht rally. The air temperature in July will be about 26°C; the water temperature about the same and the warm South-Easterly trade wind will waft gently at about 10 – 15 knots across the flat water of these 220 square miles of sailing nirvana. Humidity during July is at the lowest for the year. You’ll be lucky to see a wave because the barrier reef along the Eastern edge of the archipelago breaks the Pacific Ocean swells. Many of the locals will tell you that July is the very best time to visit Tonga.

Both Catamarans and Monohulls are available for the Rally, but there are only two catamarans left so be quick!
