Bill Beaver (USA) leads IC Worlds after day 1

Bill Beaver of the USA leads the International Canoe Worlds after day 1. Beaver had a first and second to lead by one point from Hayden Virtue of Australia, who scored a third and first.

The IC Worlds are being held at the McCrae YC, Australia. Australian boats took the thrid and fourth slots after the first day, Tim Wilson in third and Seth Dundar in fourth. Fifth overall is Johan Elfstrom (SWE) and sixth Colin Brown (GBR).

The racing was very close in the standard IC. The first race went to Beaver with a four second win over Wilson, with Virtue third. Virtue took the second race with a five second victory over Beaver, with Dunbar eight seconds back in third place. Six boats did not finish.

Chris Maas of the USA won both of the Development Canoe races, he leads from Steve Clark of the USA, who took second in both races. Aliststair Warren (GBR) is in third overall after a sixth and a third.

Mass won the first DC race by five minutes from Clark, with Oliver Moore (USA) third. In the second race Mass again won but Clark closed the gap to less than two minutes. Alistair Warren (GBR) took third place. Seven boat did not finish.

In the Asymmetric Canoe event, John Robson won both races to lead from Peter Mclaren (GBR), with Tobias Kunz (GER) in third place.
