New CEO for Southport Yacht Club

Southport Yacht Club is proud to announce the arrival of new Chief Executive Officer Captain Joe Goddard CMM, B.E. (UNSW).

Captain Goddard has extensive experience (over thirty years) in managing Marinas and Yacht Clubs both in Australia and abroad and comes to Southport Yacht Club after more than three years of Marina Management in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

His previous experience includes:
o Americas Cup Challenge, Sydney, Consultant
o EastSail, Sydney, Co-founder and Director
o GoMarine Sales, Sydney, Proprietor
o Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, Sydney, CEO
o International Marine, Dubai, Consultant

o Yachtmaster, Dubai, Consultant
o Umm Al Quqain Marina, Development
o SeaWorld, Gold Coast, Consultant

Under Captain Goddard’s management Southport Yacht Club is set to continue moving forward as the Gold Coast’s Premier Boating and Social Club providing Members and the community with such facilities as: award winning and newly extended floating Marina; Hardstand; Main Beach Clubhouse with Function Rooms, Waterfront Café, Bars and Cellar; Sailing Squadron at Hollywell; and Dux, Gold Members’ private island retreat on South Stradbroke Island.

Southport Yacht Club’s Main Beach Clubhouse is soon to undergo an extension and refurbishment with Phase 3 set to commence in 2008, which will include: an extension of the ground level deck, an additional bar, a new Members’ lounge, new bathrooms including disabled access amenities on ground level, new administration and reception offices, a new merchandise store, new staff room and refurbished ground level function room.

Southport Yacht Club greatly anticipates Captain Goddard’s arrival on Monday 19th November 2007.
