During a voting process that took nearly six weeks, US SAILING members voted to fill three positions on the organisation's Board of Directors. For all three Board of Directors positions, the incumbents received the largest number of votes. The voting process was completed earlier today during the organisation's Annual Meeting in Phoenix, Ariz.
The re-elected members of the Board of Directors - all of whom will serve for a three-year term - are:
* Dick Allsopp (Orange Park, Fla.)
* Jim Tichenor (Houston, TX)
* Susan Epstein (Sharon, Mass.)
During today's Annual Meeting, the Board of Directors re-elected Jim Capron (Annapolis, Md.) as President for a second consecutive one-year term. According to the organisation's Bylaws, the president can serve for a maximum of three consecutive terms of one year each.
This is the second year that US SAILING held elections to determine members of its Board of Directors. In October 2005, US SAILING amended its Bylaws to restructure the organisation and dramatically downsize the Board of Directors, from 49 to 15 members, making it more nimble and efficient. The organisation's first elections were held last year.
