At the X-Yacht production development facility in Haderslev Denmark, work is fully underway; the 5 axis milling machine is busy making plugs for the hull, deck, inner liners, keel and rudder for the new Xc-45.
After receiving very positive feedback from the preliminary sales drawings and the 2007 edition of the X-Yachting magazine, we have been intensively refining the Xc concept even further. The first Xc-45 will be launched in late spring (Northern hemisphere) 2008, and will then undergo intensive testing before the planned series production begins.
The Xc philosophy
The Xc range is a proud member of the X-Yachts family and boasts the three 'X-Yachts' waterlines.
Extra attention has paid to make the yacht feel safe, yet still exhilarating; a design challenge in itself, which X-Yachts has worked hard to achieve.
Hull design
The hull shape is more orientated towards cruising. Deeper hull sections allow more interior volume for tanks, and other essential cruising equipment, which also provides smoother motion sailing into the weather.
X-Yachts quality
X-Yachts special standard features, which give optimum sailing qualities, have been carried into this range: sandwich hull and deck; steel hull keel girder; composite lead keel; flush mounted through hull fittings; optimum weight distribution; discontinuous rod rigging; hydraulic backstay; self tailing stainless steel winches; and all other deck and rigging equipment selected to meet the highest standards.
The finer details
A number of features and details are being developed to ensure that the Xc range accommodates the needs of all possible clients. A whole series of extras or options ensures that each yacht is perfectly suited to its location.
Conventional spray hood
The Xc-45 comes standard with a normal spray hood, with stainless steel framework (not shown here).
Optional Windshield
A curved hardened glass wind screen is fixed to the spray hood combing, and includes grab rails and an integrated spray hood, shown in the down position here.
Cockpit Tent
An optional tent can be zipped to both windshield and conventional spray hood options (not shown here).
Bimini
The optional bimini is set on a stainless steel framework.
The hull port lights have been enlarged to allow more light into the interior and the deck hatches are of new flush and flat model.
A rear of its own…
The Xc 45 transom is in a class of its own.
This is where we have hidden some of the best Xc features. The transom 'healing aft' makes it different from almost all other cruising or racing yachts, and gives the Xcs a classic identity.
By using this design, it has been possible to create a spacious aft deck surface connecting the side decks. This is very practical for cruising, and also ensures safety in big seas.
Take a swim
To access the swimming platform, the transom is hinged down into a horizontal position, whilst the aft deck is lowered to create a walkway out. A combination of electronically operated actuators, struts and springs makes the transformation between closed and open cockpit an effortless task. Also integrated into the platform is a bathing ladder and a shower unit.

Easy life raft deployment
The compartment for the life raft is hidden in the starboard part of the transom. It can hold charter regulation eight person canisters, operated by a launch mechanism under the helms seat which, when needed, can be deployed quickly and easily. Good access from aft is also available.
Stern anchor
With an optional integrated stern anchor davit, you can lower and deploy up to 50m of warp with ease.
Inside the Xc-45
Bulkhead and Furniture surfaces
The interior of the Xc-45 comes standard with white melamine surfaced bulkhead with recessed stripes of teak to give a 'panel' effect'.
There is an option to have varnished teak bulkheads.
The furniture joinery, such as galley; Navigation station; sofa fronts; cabinets; shelves; wardrobes fiddles and grab rails, are all made of high quality varnished and satin finished teak, hand-finished by our specialized carpenters.
White soft vinyl lining is integrated into the molded deck headliner, as well as on all visible hull top sides.
Ventilation and light
The cabins are light and airy due to maximum ventilation wherever possible. The flush hatches are all fitted with recessed Oceanair blinds, with roller 'blackout' and mosquito blinds; and all main cabin trunk port lights are equipped with curtains from Oceanair. Dorade vents are also in the main cabin, to allow ventilation whilst under passage.
Qualities
The galley counter top and head surfaces are of Corian. All shower and mixer taps are from highly reputable suppliers, and a 'Force 10' oven is fitted as standard.
Laminated battens support the berths in the cabins for improved comfort and maximum ventilation. All mattresses are made of 'Latex' foam, for maximum comfort.
Interior Layout - create your own…
Owners Cabin
The front cabin is very spacious, with plenty of wardrobe space, drawers, freeboard cabinets and shelves.
The standard mattresses, throughout all sleeping cabins, are of Latex and rest on laminated battens for optimum comfort and ventilation.
Plenty of deck hatches, and the cabin trunk port light, give maximum ventilation.
The owner's head is located to port and contains a separate shower unit, with room for a washing machine.
Main Cabin
The Xc-45 offers two alternative main cabin layouts.
Option B.1 Dedicated Navigation station
The main cabin comes standard with a dedicated Navigation station, with ample space for navigational and communicational equipment.
In front of this Navigation station is a 190cm sofa, where one of the back rest cushions can be hinged down to form a small 'drinks table'.
Option B.2 En suite shower version
Alternatively, we offer a version with a shower compartment adjacent to, and with access from, the standard head compartment on the starboard side.
This version features two comfortable armchair seats, separated by a fixed Navigation table, and has ample space for navigational and communicational equipment by the aft seat.
Aft Cabins
The Xc 45 comes in a 2 or a 3-cabin interior version.
Option C.1 3-Cabin version
The Xc-45 comes standard with the 3-cabin version. This has two almost symmetrical aft cabins; both with ample wardrobe and locker space, and both with maximum ventilation from three operable port lights / deck hatches.
Option C.2 2-Cabin version with work station
Alternatively, there is the 2-cabin version, which features a huge 'workshop cabin' in the starboard side aft. A work bench, with cabinets and drawers for tools and spare parts, provides an ideal solution for the sailors, who want to go on a long distance exploration/voyage. In addition, this has a deep and spacious cockpit seat locker, which is also accessible from the work station. This gives improved access to the engine compartment, and some of the yachts technical equipment will be installed there.
