On Thursday night at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, Line 7 held their official launch party to celebrate the re-introduction of Line 7 back into the wet weather gear market.

In front of a packed house full of prominent sailors, marine identities and yachting media, Line 7 Marine Manager Pat Langley officially launched their new wet weather gear brand 'Line 7 Marine' signaling a new era for the iconic New Zealand clothing company.

'It is great to have Line 7 back in the wet weather gear market, because this is essentially where we began in the first place and came to such prominence in the 70’s & 80’s', said Langley.

The guests were entertained by a presentation tracking Line 7’s extensive history over the past thirty years which featured imagery of all the famous racing boats wearing Line 7 from Ted Turner’s Courageous in the 1977 America’s Cup through to Emirates Team New Zealand in 2007.

The product development that Line 7 has undertaken over the past twelve months has been quite amazing- from market research to fabric and product development through to on the water testing, Greg Flynn- Line 7’s NZ Marketing Manager noted that 'all our products have been through the wringer and tested in the harshest of environments.'

The product received rave reviews from the large amount of guests present who all commented on the striking looks and attention to detail of the range. Langley commented on the designs:

'Weight and bulk was a big factor that we have worked on with this range so as a result Line 7 Marine products are as light weight as we can get in construction whilst still providing the ultimate in performance.'

Another interesting aspect of the evening was hearing from sailing personalities- Richard Slater (BMW Oracle AC team rules Adviser), prominent Sydney sailor Nev Wittey (Doyle Sail makers) and Sydney 38 class owners Geoff Bonus & Chris Way who all entertained the crowd with stories of their recent sailing experiences.

Langley said, 'To speak to a cross section of sailors from different parts of the sport epitomizes what Line 7 Marine is all about- providing high performance sailing product for all levels of sailing.

Line 7 Marine is available now at all good marine stores in Australia & New Zealand.
