Laser and Radial World Masters Championship, Spain 2007 SW

Australian sailors, won five division titles at the Laser and Laser Radial World Masters Championships which ended Saturday at the Bay of Roses in Spain. The Australians won four mens and one womens title.

Britain's top finisher was Orlando Gledhill who finished second in the Apprentice (35+) Laser Standard Category, which was won by Brett Byer (AUS). Steve Cockerill (GBR) finished third.

Nick Harrison of Britain was third in the Masters (45+) Laser Standard category, which was won by Arnoud Hummel (NED) with Vann Wilson (USA) third.

In the Masters Radial catagory Greg Adams (AUS) won ahead of Robert Cage (GBR) with Martin Baltscheffsky (FIN) third. Britains took the next three places.

Peter Heywood (AUS) won the Grand Masters (55+) Laser Radial catagory, Peter Whipp (GBR) was second and Alden Shattuck (USA) third, Ian Rawet (GBR) was fourth. Hilary Thomas of Britain was the top women.

In the Great Grand Masters (65+) Laser Radial catagory, Peter Seidenberg of the USA won, ahead of Kerry Waraker (AUS) and Heini Wellmann (SUI), top Brit was Bill Watson in fifth.

The Masters Worlds Championships, which will be hosted by Gosford SC in Australia next February, attracted some 420 competitors in total.
