Russia take Yngling European Women's Title
by Event media on 29 Sep 2007
Due to severe wind and sea conditions the Medal Race scheduled for today was cancelled after several hours of postponement. That means that the results of yesterday is now the official Championship result.
The winners are Ekaterina Skudina, Diana Krutzkikh and Natalia Ivanova of Russia. Silver medal to Mandy Mulder, Brechte Van der Werf and Marje Kampen (NED) and the Bronze medal to the team of Sofia Bekatoru, Sofia Papaadoulou and Christina Charamountani (GRE).
The storm warning was issued already yesterday and because of warning for high sea levels the Sailing Instructions was altered so that boats were allowed to be hauled out of the water. This proved to be a good safety measure by the organisation since the entire Yngling dock was under water this morning.
The day of waiting was spent wise by the teams making plans about future training periods. The next major Yngling Women Championship is the World Championship in February in Miamii, USA. The next years Europeans will be sailed in April in Masnou, Spain
