News from Puerto Galera Yacht Club
by PGYC Media on 27 Sep 2007
The summer holiday season is drawing to a close and the winter return migration of friends and members has begun. The building of the new Lawin dinghies is going apace, with one hull already painted and awaiting fittings. This time we thought wed liven them up somewhat three will have bright yellow decks, with the other seven in shades of blue to reflect the colours of our burgee and logo. The first spinnakers have been produced with the Clubs and various sponsors artwork. Its not too late to get one, but youll have to be quick. The launching and dedication will take place over the All Souls Regatta weekend.
The Club has at last secured the original title and deed of sale for the plot of land next door. If we can get a building permit for the access development then and we can start work before the ASR.
The influx of annual membership dues also means that we can start on the much-needed repairs to the Club pier. At the moment a stroll along it is akin to a walk through the crazy house at a fun fair with holes, wobbly bits and a general feeling of impending disaster.
ALL SOULS REGATTA
The current list of participating boats in the Royal/Heavylift All Souls Regatta 2007 is on the pgyc.org website along with the Notice Of Race and other important information.
If you are thinking of entering your boat, coming to crew or to be just a spectator (but why be just a spectator in life when you can crew during the best regatta on the planet at Halloween?) then bookmark the All Souls Regatta page of the pgyc.org website and check it regularly for updates.
Remember, the Puerto Galera Yacht Club is open to non-members who have an interest in the sport of sailing and want to get out on the water during the regatta period. Simply come to the clubhouse, join the skippers for breakfast and put you hand up when the bells rings and we will find you a crew position.
ALL SOULS REGATTA accommodation book now!
The message is book now! if you want the best choice of rooms during the regatta week (31 October-05 November) in Puerto Galera. Last week we asked the resorts who regularly support the Yacht Club if they still have rooms available. The challenge is that this is already the start of the peak season so room rates have gone up and are getting harder to find. For a full list of resorts that still have space available and who are offering special bonuses for regatta participants, please go to http://www.pgyc.org/puertogalera.html#where2stay
