Tom is best described as an ambitious and determined sailor. The latest campaign for Tom is The Transat 6.50 Race held biannually. The 4000 mile race starts in the Bay of Biscay, France and finishes in Bahia, Brazil and will test all of Tom's skill as a sailor.
Latest report from Tom Braidwood's website: www.tombraidwood.com
Its been a tough 24 hours out on the race track for Tommy Braidwood. Earlier in the day Wombat had edged further ahead into 19th spot with good breeze and about seven knots of boat speed, and Tommy's plan of staying closer to the coast was paying off.
Unfortunately later in the afternoon we have seen some shifts, giving some advantage to those competitors out a little wider. Tom Addis has said today that Tommy appears to be sticking to his original weather plan and should consistently see better breeze and advantage once round La Corogne (Cap Finisterre).
At present Tommy is at 44.00'35'N, 06.44'13'W doing five knots... and in 24th place. Fellow Australian Andrew Wood (Domosofa.com) is in 29th place and close behind Tommy. French women Isabelle Joschke is still in the lead doing 4.8 knots.
