After many years of planning Southport Yacht Club’s New Marina Extension is nearing completion.

The New Marina Extension includes: five SuperYacht Berths, twenty-one sixteen metre single shutes, six sixteen metre catamaran berths, plus a twenty-five metre berth, two twenty-two metre berths, a thirteen metre berth and finally an eighteen metre berth taking Southport Yacht Club’s marina capacity to over 300 berths.

Southport Yacht Club’s new SuperYacht berths have already come in very useful with numerous yachts from the recent Audi Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race fleet enjoying these new luxurious berths.

Facilities on the marina have also received an upgrade with a new gangway installed; power and fire equipment and security cameras improved and updated; and a new sullage pump installed on the fuel wharf.

During the New Marina Extension seventeen piles on Southport Yacht Club’s F and G arms were replaced as part of Southport Yacht Club’s commitment to ongoing marina maintenance.

Construction of the New Marina Extension will have taken approximately 110 days to complete as construction commenced in April 2007 and is expected to be complete towards the end of August 2007.

Southport Yacht Club will host an official opening of the new marina berths on Friday 24th August with guests enjoying a luxury seacat tour of the marina at sunset.
