Great start to Day 4 at Meridien Marinas ABRW

Today's race, the 34 nautical mile race to Saddleback is the most northerly Whitsunday race in recent years. The fleet will head up to the top of the Gloucester Group.

It is the best wind the fleet has had all week, around 13 knots at the start and the building breeze looks likely to give the sailors a good 'hit out'.

Bob Steel's TP52 Quest lead the fleet to the Mandalay mark, followed by Ray Roberts' Cookson 50 Quantum Racing about two boat lengths further back. Rob Bassett's Bakewell-White designed Wired rounded the mark and interestingly chose to stay in the centre of the channel, rather than head to the mainland shore.

As the fleet converged on the Grassy Island corner, Quest maintained her lead from Wired and Quantum Racing, with Beau Geste just behind and Limit inside her. Half a mile further back was Russell McCart's Farr 40 Night Nurse, with the series leader Arajilla almost four miles back from the leaders.
