Australia's Gold Coast has all these and once a year it gets even better, with the arrival of one of Australia's premier water racing categories, the Formula 1 Superboats.

Fresh from a fantastic round at Wauchope, just west of the seaside town of Port Macquarie, the stage is set for a blistering August weekend of hi-octane action and a waterborne clash of the titans!

The Gold Coast has long been regarded as one of Australia's premier holiday destinations, but more than that, it's a place where thousands of people that have chosen to make the sun-drenched area their home. Dealing with the huge amounts of tourists demands a solid infrastructure and the Gold Coast would be just another beachside resort without the efforts of the locals and council.

It's these same people that the F1 Superboat management and teams turn to every year and that's what makes the Gold Coast round a shining light in the XLR8 Home loans Australian F1 Superboat calendar.

Packing up and moving these 240 kilometre per hour, 560 kilogram missiles is no mean feat. The result of unpacking them is spectacular however, with first comers constantly blown away by the sheer spectacle of a fleet of F1 Superboats at full cry.

From nought to 160 km/h in under four seconds, from dead silence to space shuttle launch noise in the blink of an eye, pulling fighter jet like G forces on turns and 360+ horsepower from a screaming 2.5L V6 outboard race engine, the Gold Coast gets the lot!

Visitors to the GC (as some locals like to call it) have a smorgasbord of entertainment venues, high-class accommodation, the unusual and off beat spots (The Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum springs to mind), international attractions such as Warner Bros Movie World and the new Q1 Tower, the highest residential structure in the world.

The Gold Coast round of the Series for 2007 will also incorporate the very popular Miss F1 Supergirl Quest. Preliminary judging is to be held on the Thursday night with Friday Night's Final Judging at the Bedroom Lounge and Night Club, Surfers Paradise. Drivers and members will be warming up with a few drinks at Cheerleaders Night Club prior to the contest, it's an event not to be missed.

The Gold Coast also has its own representative in the F1 Superboat group, with local nightclub owner, Craig Truslove, running the XLR8 Home Loans F1 entry. Coming from a race weekend at Port Macquarie/Wauchope that he'd, no doubt, prefer to forget, Craig said he was determined to show the locals their faith would be rewarded. Either way Craig will parting till all hours Sunday Night where celebrations will take place at the Meeting Place Bar and Club Surfers Paradise.
The action will be fast and furious with the Trask Brothers eager to stamp their authority in their own state, young gun Rhys Coles the 2006 F1 Champion now calling Gold Coast home will also be biting at the bit for a win. The list goes on with Vella, Beasley, Mc Ennally and some new players set to hit Gold Coast.

Supported by the F2000, F3, Monos, Thundercats and the newest category, the Jet ski support class, the weekend of the 25th and 26 th of August promises to be entertainment plenty and a super time for the Superboats on the Gold Coast!

There's no better location to witness these missiles but from the VIP Club Superboat Waterfront Marquee located at the pit area on Muriel Henchman Drive at the Spit Marine Stadium, Gold Coast.
