Selden 2020 - LEADERBOARD

Andy Davis is new Solo UK Champion

by Sail-World on 6 Aug 2007
The Solo UK Nationals held at Paignton Sailing Club attracted 90 entries. Sailed in mainly light weather conditions, the title came down to a battle between Chris Goldhawk, Jim Hunt, Andy Davis and Stuart Bush. Victory eventually went to Andy Davis.

Chris Goldhawk moved into contention after winning race ten, but a 19th in the final race 12 let Davis into the top position, after dropping a BFD and a 29th, by just two points.

Other front runners also faltered at the final stages. Jim Hunt picked up a BFD in race 8 and then a 21st in race 11 and despite a second in the final race, had left himself just too much to do.

Defending champion Jamie Lea, managed to collect two BFD during the week and despite a good run in the middle of the week, was out of the podium places, finishing fifth.

Mike Ball from Papercourt SC won both the final two races, but some wild swings in performance placed him down the field overall at 11th.

Stuart Bush from Shustoke SC, was another double winner but with a couple of high discards he had to count a 12 and a 21st to finish fourth. Only the two leaders finished the week with all single scores, after discards.
