Aussies doing well Day 2 Kiel Week (Kieler Woche)

ISAF President Petersson and the Kieler Woche race committee were pleased with today’s action on the water; after a rather slow start Saturday on all Olympic Classes’ courses, on Sunday most competitors sailed 3 races, the boardsailors on course Golf even 4 races.
Austria, New Zealand and Australia are represented with strong teams and leading competitors: The Laser Radial W lead after 4 races share the 'ladies from down under', 1st Jo Aleh, NZL, 2nd S. Blanck, AUS and 3rd W. Krystal, AUS.
Again in the 470 W class following nations/teams cover top positions: 1st S.Vogl/C. Flatscher, AUT, 2nd E. Rechichi/T. Parkinson, AUS, 3rd S. Hesson/B. Barbarich-Bacher, NZL.
The RS-X Board W teams sailed 4 races with A. Brygota, POL in superb lead, followed by the 2 Germans M. Delle and R. Stadler.
The Polish M. Wojcik leads the RS-X Board M fleet, 2nd and 3rd after 4 races are the USA teams W. Robert and B. Barger.
M. Blackburn, AUS scored top points in the Laser, followed by K. Porozynski, POL as 2nd and A. Schlonski, GER as 3rd.
A. Nossiter, AUS leads the Finn fleet, followed by D. Slater, NZL as 2nd and I. Kljakovic, CRO as 3rd.
The German Star team M. Pickel/I. Borkowski won all 3 races superbly with their newly developed and built Star boat, followed by H. Spitzauer/C. Nehammer, AUT as 2nd and P. Bromby/B. McNivel, BER as 3rd, the later of whom sail a sparring boat from M. Pickel.
The Tornados sailed 3 races with Roland Gäbler/G. Struckmann, GER in the lead, followed by their countrymen Helge and Christian Sach as 2nd and H. Söhle/T. Noll as 3rd.
M. Belcher/N. Behrens, AUS lead the fleet of the 470 M, followed by S. Fantela/I. Marenic, CRO as 2nd and L.Zellmer/H. Seelig, GER as 3rd.
The 49er fleet is dominated by M. Baur/H. Baumann, GER followed by C. Sieber/C. Kruse, AUT as 2nd and G. Wicke/W.Jeschonnek, GER as 3rd.
In the 2.4mR class Heiko Kröger, GER, defends successfully his home advantage, - 2nd after 4 races is T. Schmitter, NED, and 3rd P. Tingley, CAN. (-/hmb)
