Fishing Products and Advice at Sydney International Boat Show

by Event Media on 8 Jun 2007
Offshore fishing boats and equipment will be on display at the 40th Sydney International Boat Show SW
It’s boat show number 40 for the famed Sydney International Boat Show, scheduled for August 2-7 at its now traditional home at Darling Harbour.

For those fond of wielding a rod or a line, the show looks the goods.

All six halls of the Darling Harbour Exhibition Centre will be filled to capacity, with all manner of boats, engines, marine electronics, fishing tackle, nautical clothing and general boating accessories.

Just a five-minute walk away, the spectacular marina on Cockle Bay beckons, with a record number of luxury craft, both power and sail, on display. Sportsmen who see themselves hunting the giant black marlin that roam the Coral Sea will be among those sure to be impressed.

Sponsored by Club Marine and NSW Maritime, show organiser the Boating Industry Association of NSW is determined to make the 40th show one to remember. All the attractions which have made the show such a drawcard in recent years will be back; the amusing Boat Building Competition (staged on the Saturday), daily fashion parades by Musto, Strictly Sail and Better Boating Workshops and of course, the popular Yamaha Fishing Clinic.

The strongest team of angling experts assembled will be on hand to offer advice, and that’s advice suitable for the rank beginner as well as the highly experienced.

Veteran communicator Dick Lewers is the team captain and has as his crew radio star Bruce Schumacher, bass champion John Bethune, rod builder Ian Miller, land based game fishing exponent Phil Atkinson, well-known angling personality Steve Starling and author Tim Simpson. The clinic will run sessions daily and with most ‘performing’ to standing room-only audiences an early arrival is recommended.

All the leading names in boats, engines and marine electronics will be on show.

Among the releases not to be missed is the world launch of the Maritimo 550 battlewagon, designed specifically for the big billfish off far North Queensland. Surmounted by a stainless steel tuna tower and sporting a $20,000-plus fighting chair in her cockpit, this $1.7 million beauty will be hard to miss!

Trailer boats, too, will be eagerly sought after and the specialised sport fishing boats from Haines Signature, Cruise Craft, Bayliner, Quintrex, Haines Hunter and others will be prime attractions.

The 2007 Sydney International Boat Show will open at 10am daily. Within the exhibition centre, displays will be open until 8pm, but operations on the marina will cease at 6pm.

Admission charges are $18 (single adult), $42 (family ticket admitting two adults and up to three children 6-17 years), $16 (Seniors Card holders), $12 (Pensioners) and $10 (children aged 6-17 years). Children 5-years and under admitted free.
