The Chapman Marine Group, headquartered at Sydney's Rose Bay and headed by industry veteran Mark Chapman, has been appointed authorised Australian key distributor for the British-built motor yacht range, Fairline.
The Chapman Marine Group was previously a long-term agent for Princess Motor Yachts, the distribution of which was last year taken over by The Riviera Group.
M
r Bryan Jones, Fairline’s marketing manager, announced Chapman’s appointment during the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. The Chapman Marine Group will have Australia wide responsibilities, although a separate appointment will be made for Perth because of logistical reasons.
'I had been on the lookout for a replacement for the Princess marque and am absolutely delighted to have been appointed by Fairline,' Chapman said.
'I’d looked at several well-known names, but on tours of the Fairline manufacturing facilities I came away convinced that here was one of the highest-quality craft I had experienced.
'I’m really looking forward to being involved and have already ordered four boats.
'Unfortunately they won’t be here in time for the Sydney International Boat Show in August, but I will have a Fairline on show.'
The Chapman Marine Group has proven itself one of the primary dealerships for imported boats.
It is the Australian distributor for the legendary Chris-Craft breed and NSW distributor for other US marques, Regal and Wellcraft.
Chapman has had a long involvement with Wellcraft and introduced the famous Scarab, of Miami Vice fame, to the Australian market.
Coincidentally, as Fairline makes its first Sydney International Boat Show appearance as part of the Chapman Marine Group, it will be celebrating its 40th birthday, as will the Sydney show.
The company was formed the year the Sydney International Boat Show began, 1967, its first boat a small 19-footer designated a ‘river cruiser.’
Forty years on, Fairline can count 11,500 boats and 63 models with the latest (and largest) a unique offering that allows buyers to extensively customise the vessel to their individual requirements.
This absolutely stunning 78-footer is likely to set an Australian back some $6.5 million.
'And I’d be only too happy to take the order,' Chapman declared.
The Fairline range encompasses three sectors; the Targa sportboats at 38’, 40’, 47’, 52’ and 62’; the Phantom Flybridge series at 40’, 48’ and 50’; and the Squadron motor yachts at 58’, 68’ and 78’.
