Annapolis to Newport Race starts June 1

Interest in the 2007 Annapolis to Newport Race continues to grow as the starting date of Friday, June 1 approaches. With a less than a week until the entry deadline, two additional Club Challenge teams have been formed. Plans are underway
to provide an exciting start for competitors and spectators alike. The U.S. Naval Academy will provide a YP boat as the pin end of the starting line, and the City of Annapolis will be honoring the start of the 2007 Annapolis to Newport Race with a waterworks display from one of their fireboats.

Over 55 boats have registered so far, with 20 in the IRC, 35 in PHRF and two in the single-handed division. Both the Naval Academy Sailing Squadron and the Philadelphia Corinthian Club have entered four yachts for their club challenge teams, joining Annapolis Yacht Club in the team competition. Past IRC and IMS winners have joined the list of entrants. A complete list of current entrants is available at www.annapolisyc.org.

Individual classes will being starting at 12:00 pm on Friday from R2 just north of the mouth of the Severn River near Tom's Point.
