Two Queensland development companies have been shortlisted to develop one of the largest marina projects on the Queensland coast, according to a story in The Courier-Mail. Meridien Marinas and the Seymour Group have been asked by the state government to submit bids for the redevelopment of Urangan Boat Harbour in Hervey Bay. The project would involve building a 200-slip marina as well as upgrading existing facilities.
Infrastructure Minister Anna Bligh said that it would be one of the most significant tourism developments in the state. Work is expected to start by 2009 and be complete by 2011.
The paper noted that developers have been buying up land in recent months in anticipation of the announcement. Both firms have been involved recently in marina developments.
