The $50 million purpose-built Gold Coast Marine Centre, a major component within the Gold Coast Marine Precinct at Coomera on Australia's Gold Coast in south easter Queensland, is scheduled to begin construction of additional marine service and manufacturing facilities.
Occupying a prime 23-acre site fronting the Coomera River, the centre currently boasts 32 tenants, among them Seatech Marine, Barnacle Busters, Light Wave Catamarans and Bradford Marine.
According to the centre’s general manager, Colin Speairs, the entire facility is similar to large scale similar centres in Europe and the USA.
'There are about 20,000 registered vessels on the Gold Coast, all of which require maintenance and being right on the river boat owners don’t need to go through the drama of arranging transport by road for their vessels,' he explained.
The centre has 30 berths at present; all serviced with power and water and planning is underway for the construction of a 300-boat dry storage facility on the development’s northern boundary.
'Commitment to the environment plays a major part in the centre’s environmental sustainability,' Mr Speairs added.
'The wash down bays and hard stand areas capture, treat and re-cycle all waste water for daily re-use.'
Other facilities within the centre include a 70-tonne capacity boat lift and specialised multi-hull hydraulic trailers, which allow the safe haul out of wide-beam catamarans and houseboats.
Company directors of the Gold Coast Marine Centre include prominent businessman Rodney Longhurst and Wesley Moxey, CEO of The Riviera Group.
