Dan Slater reports from the final day of racing in ther Finn Class at the Princess Sofia Regatta in Palma, Spain.
Today’s race was everyone’s worst fears for a medal race and thank God it wasn’t China.
We started with five of us laying the top mark on the start gun in no wind and the other five sailing 30 degrees lower to leeward hiking in 15 knots.
The race progressed with the fleet split right from the start. At the first mark in the short 10 min beat I was last after my time in the doldrums and 4mins behind the leader.
The race continued with the same thing happening on second beat mixing the placings again and the results.
Overall I was 9th in the race and 9th overall. There are lots of sailors not happy with some very incompetent race committee decisions and Judges during the event and more so today which has put a damp feel on the regatta.
Looking forward to a few days off before getting stuck into some training in France next week.
Thanks for your support
