TV at sea with a perfect picture

Renowned marine electronics house, Oceantalk, is constantly striving to improve its products and with the all-new Super Digi Signal Stretcher it has taken on-board television viewing to a superior level.

It’s now two-years since Oceantalk introduced the SuperDigi TV tuner aimed at enhancing on board television reception. Utilising diversity reception with twin tuners and antennae, the television picture became markedly clearer.

A recent premium upgrade featuring active antennae together with more sensitive tuner circuits, made it even better, and not only that, but the price was reduced as well.

Now, Robin Kydd, managing director of Oceantalk, says the company has taken technology to a new level.

'I’m sure most boaters are familiar with low signal areas and subsequent poor reception,' he pointed out.

'The Super Digi Signal Stretcher, about the size of a cigarette packet, connects to the Premium SuperDigi TV tuner and boosts the signal offering vastly superior reception in those hard to receive areas,' he explained. Those with the SuperDigi feature installed will find the Super Digi Signal Stretcher is easily retro-fitted.

'This means even when sailing to out of the way places those aboard need not miss out on watching their favourite television shows or sporting events,' Robin Kydd added.

Although the technology has been available in Europe, it did not work efficiently in the United Kingdom. It was through the work of Oceantalk technicians that minor problems were solved and the system adapted to Australian conditions.

'Our system has already created export opportunities for us, proof that Australian innovation and technology is alive and well,' Robin Kydd added.

The technology behind the device capitalises on 'asymmetrical signal processing,' an innovative system with a patent pending. It cleverly enhances signal strength in difficult locations, while at the same time avoiding signal overload that can be experienced in stronger signal areas.

'And it does it all automatically,' Robin Kydd said, 'all you do is tune it, sit back and relax without needing to adjust any settings.'

Owners who have the Premium SuperDigi TV tuner fitted will only pay $160 to add on the Super Digi Signal Stretcher. However, Oceantalk will shortly release a 'super pack' for those without the necessary tuner, enabling them to enjoy the clear picture.

Boat owners increasingly seek he same creature comforts they enjoy at home, including television. If you or your crew have a fondness for television, the Super Digi Signal Stretcher rates as an absolute 'must have.'
