Thinking of a career change?

Sydney 41 – Oceans Southern Cross Yachting http://www.southerncrossyachting.com.au
Help wanted!

Persons urgently needed to skipper yachts in beautiful unspoilt Marine Park with year round perfect weather.

Maximum of five persons on board, quality yachts, all meals on board included.

Duties include swimming in crystal clear water, watching dolphins, dugong and whales, anchoring in secluded bays, moon lit night sails, and cruising to Fraser island and the Whitsundays’ on Australia's Great Barrier Reef several times each year. Oh yeah, you have to teach the crew to sail (and you get paid to do it)!

Does this sound like the job for you? Then become an RYA Yachting Instructor.

Southern Cross Yachting, based in magnificent Moreton Bay in Brisbane, is desperately short of instructors to cater for the overwhelming demand for RYA courses. The success of the RYA training scheme in Australia has created an unprecedented shortage of qualified instructors.

The Queensland Coast from Moreton Bay to the Whitsundays’ offers a unique sail training experience truly unequaled anywhere in the world. With its swirling tides, endless sunshine (particularly over the dams unfortunately) and incredible natural beauty, Moreton Bay has become a major destination for foreign visitors, coming here specifically to gain the internationally recognized RYA Qualifications.

Were else in the world can you see dugong swimming only eight miles from the CBD of a large city? Or swim in beautiful clear water after a day’s sailing. Or enjoy a night passage in shorts and a t -shirt? Not in bloody England I can tell you! The Poms can’t get on the plane quick enough to get here to do their RYA courses. The word is out and the world is coming to our door!

Southern Cross Yachting, Australia’s first RYA training centre, is based at East Coast Marina, in Manly (Brisbane that is, not the other one!)The village of Manly is one of the most liveable places in south-east Queensland. Only 20 minutes from Australia’s third largest city, the village is centered around Manly Boat Harbour with a huge variety of restaurants, cafes, bars and yacht clubs. The village comes alive on the weekends with markets, festivals and its water front parks and beaches full of visitors and activities.

It’s not just here in Brisbane, all RYA schools around Australia are looking for more instructors.

With RYA Instructor qualifications you can work at any of the over 300 RYA practical training centers located around the world.

Southern Cross Yachting are running a RYA cruising instructors course from 30th April 2007 – 4th May 2007.

Held over five days the course will train you in the skills to deliver the RYA Cruising scheme.

Successful candidates will be awarded the RYA Cruising Instructor Qualification. This allows you to run practical courses to Day Skipper level. This can be converted to a QLD Master5 (limited to sailing schools) which allows you to skipper sail training yachts professionally.

The pre-requisite for this course is the RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate and loads of enthusiasm!

The course is run personally by School Principal Mike Job; Australia’s most experienced RYA Instructor and the only Australian to be an RYA Instructor Examiner. Mike can draw on his years of experience teaching yachting and training instructors all over the world.

For more information about instructor positions and to discuss the course contact Mike, Jenny or Alison at Southern Cross Yachting 07 33964100 or sailing@southerncrossyachting.com.au.
