Olympic classes at Lake Garda Expert event

Hamish Pepper and David Giles have won the hat-trick of major US Star regattas - Worlds, NA’s and Bacardi Cup SW
After five races of the Expert Olympic Regatta on Lake Garda, hosted by Fraglia Vela Riva and Fraglia Vela Malcesine, Hamish Pepper and Brad Nichol of New Zealand lead the Star class. Coming into this event Pepper has won the Worlds, North American’s and just recently the Bacardi Cup.

In second place are Luca Simeone and Vittorio Landolfi of Italy with Philipp Rotermund and Tom Huber of Germany in third place.

Racing is very tight in the Laser class. Vasilij Zbogar (SLO) leads by one point from Marc de Hass (NED), with Mark Powell (GBR) and Rutgar van Schaardenburg (NED) tied for third place a further point back.

The Radial class has a run-away leader in Evi van Acker (NED) with a clean sheet of eight wins so far. Second is Katarzyna Szotynska (POL) and third Tatiana Drozdovskaja (BLR).

In the Finn, Gasper Vincec (SLO) has a five point leader from Marin Misura CRO), with Wietze Zetzeme (NED) in third place.

In the small 49er fleet (only seven racing), Guiseppe Angilla and Pietro Zucchetti of Italy have been swapping the lead position with Goran Ivankovic and Ivan Ivanankovic of Croatia. Pavle Kostov and Petar Cupac (CRO) are in third place.

Racing continues until Sunday 18 March.
