Lowrance on everyone’s radar

by Sandman Communications on 20 Feb 2007
Lowrance radar SW
Lowrance’s powerful and affordable range of open array and radome module radar allows plug-and-play functionality with the company’s most popular units to deliver more in advanced performance, choice and reliability.

The LCX 110C and LCX 25C sonar/GPS combos, along with the GlobalMap® 7500C and GlobalMap® 6500C chartplotters, are radar compatible straight out of the box, while sonar and GPS products from the 2005 and 2006 ranges be easily linked to radar via the LowranceNET (NMEA 2000) network.

All five products in Lowrance’s LRA radar series offer outstanding performance features such as Interference Rejection (up to three levels), FTC (Rain Clutter Rejection – up to eight levels), STC (Sea Clutter Rejection – up to 256 levels), Gain Adjustment (up to 256 levels), Automatic Tuning and seven levels of Trail Settings.

The LRA 5000 is the flagship model of the range. This 4kW, 1.5m open array radar has a 1.7° horizontal beamwidth and 25° vertical beamwidth for an impressive range of up to 52nm.

Lowrance’s other open array model, the 4kW LRA 4000, features a 1.2m open array, 2.4° horizontal beamwidth and 25° vertical beamwidth to give a 48nm range.

The largest of the radome module radars is the 4kW, 0.6m LRA 2000. With a 4° horizontal beamwidth and 25° vertical beamwidth it has a range of up to 36nm.

Rounding out the LRA series are the 2kW radome module radars, the LRA 1500 (0.45m, 4.7° horizontal beamwidth, 25° vertical beamwidth) and LRA 1000 (0.3m, 7° horizontal beamwidth, 25° vertical beamwidth). With respective ranges of 24nm and 16nm, these two compact radars are likely to find particular favour among boaters who have considered the technology too expensive.

Like its sonar and chartplotter units, all Lowrance radars combine superior technology, ease of use, and powerful performance. RRP from $2,499 (LRA 1000).
