The Marina Industries Association of Australia (MIAA) is offering a premier marina managers education program to assist in the professional development of marina staff at an internationally recognised level.

Marina staff have enjoyed a very successful program in 2006 which included the introduction of courses, Straddle Carrier Operations, (which studies the operations and maintenance of a straddle carrier) and Introduction to Marina Management, (an overview of good marina management practice). All courses have received great reviews from participating delegates, with some managers already signing their staff up for the coming programs.

New courses for 2007 include the Internationally recognised Marine Service Managers Program which aims to give employees working in a leadership role in a marine service organisation a complete understanding of all processes required to successfully manage the activities involved with subcontractors, the procurement of parts, the preparation of cost estimates and time schedules that ensures the timely completion of a clients boat repair, refurbishment or maintenance. Also in 2007 the MIAA has scheduled to run a customer service course with Larry Halgren from the International Marina Institute (IMI). This one day program will give marina employees an understanding of the importance of good customer service skills and how to develop a good customer service philosophy in an open forum/workshop format.
