by Sail-World UK on 7 Feb 2007
Prize winners at Tiger Trophy 2007 Martin Hollingshead
Light winds with brilliant sunshine provided fantastic spectating of the close racing as over 150 dinghies took part in the 2007 John Merricks Tiger Trophy sailed at Rutland SC last weekend. Winners were Martin Hunter with Simon McCarthy and Jamie Stwart sailing a Thames A Rater.

After the handicap racing on Saturday the Pursuit Race took place on Sunday. Conditions looked perfect for the Thames A rater and so it proved.

After a slow race with a lot of rafting throughout the fleet, the A Rater took the lead with less than 20 minuetes to go and held off the chasing pack.

Second to finish was Merlin Rocket 3670 - Richard Whitworth / Nicloa Brook, 3rd Merlin Rocket 3684 - Jonathon / Timothy McGovern, 4th the B14 768 - Mark Barnes / Pete Nicholson and 5th Merlin Rocket - Matt Biggs / Claire Stopps.

Overall for the weekend The Thames A Rater was first, 2nd the B14 768 and 3rd the International 14 of Andy and Tom Partington.

Prizes were presented by Rod Carr, head of the RYA and one of the JMST Trustees.
