Philippine Sailing Association ‘reborn’
by Philippine Sailing Association on 24 Jan 2007
The Philippine Sailing Association ('PSA'), the national body for the sport of sailing, was officially reborn last weekend and held its inaugural Annual General Meeting at the Sunset Room of the Manila Yacht Club.
In 2003 the PSA suffered a minor setback when it became apparent that the Securities Exchange Commission had not received sufficient notices from the Association in a timely manner and therefore the Association was forced to cease business.
In rebirth it also recognises the contributions offered by the increasingly active sailing groups around the country, and offered ex-officio board member status to representatives from the Manila Yacht Club (Martin Tanco), Subic Bay Yacht Club (Peter Sharpe), Taal Lake Yacht Club (Peter Capotosto), Philippine Windsurfing Association (Manny Cabili) and the Puerto Galera Yacht Club (Martyn Willes). Additional ex-officio board members are drawn from the groups of race officials (Jerry Rollin) and sailing coaches (Ms. Medy Fidel).
The officers of the new PSA are:
Ernesto ‘Judes’ Echauz, President
JohnJohn Torres, Vice President
Donnie Altura, Secretary General
Medy Fidel, Treasurer
