Jury Cup Regatta Decision
by Rowing World on 1 Dec 2006
1:15 pm Friday - The Organisers have cancelled the 2006 Jury Cup regatta due to adverse water conditions.
Earlier Story
Heavy rain in the headwaters of the Whanganui river has cast doubts on the holding of the Jury Cup Regatta at Wanganui tomorrow - Saturday. At 8.00 am today the river was running at 6.8 meters at Pipiriki and as the regatta administrators said 'It has got to go somewhere!'.
The Regatta Committee are meeting early this afternoon and will make a decision at that time. Compounding the problem are the conditions in the 'Rowers Camp' where The Wanganui district Council are still undertaking remedial work which was planned for completion some two months ago. This has resulted in there being no time for the earthworks to dry out.
So for the moment - Hold those travel plans
