Griselda Khng, ASEAN Optimist champion 2006 SingaporeSailing
The ASEAN Optimist Sailing Championship concluded today after five days of racing. Four races were held this afternoon in varied conditions with winds of up to 12 knots and strong currents showing early signs of the imminent North East monsoon.

Singapore's Griselda KHNG, who led the race from the start, rose to the top finishing first in the Open division. 14 year old Navee THAMSOONTOM from Thailand managed to overcome the local calamities to bag second place, followed by Singapore's Sean LEE in third place.

'The week's sailing was extremely difficult for both sailors and race officials, the light and shifty conditions made daily racing a gamble. The race officials had the unnerving task of trying to set proper courses in the oscillating wind conditions. Ten points for their efforts. On behalf of SingaporeSailing, we thank all sailors and officials for their involvement in the 2006 ASEAN Optimist Sailing Championship.' said Edwin LOW the Secretary General of Singapore Sailing and Organizing Committee Chairman.

The next ASEAN Optimist Sailing Championship will be held at Batam, Indonesia in October 2007.
