Liverpool Yacht Club Early Autumn Series - Race 4

by Tim Fowle on 3 Nov 2006
Liverpool Yacht club held the fourth and final race in the Dolphin Sails Early Autumn Series on Sunday 29 October. With little or no wind, Mark Blanchard set a mid-length course in the hope that the wind would fill in but this was not to be which meant that both the Class 1 course and the Class 2 and 3 course had to be shortened.

The fleet of 19, the equal largest of the series, set off up river with the tide. Those that finished came back down the river with the ebbing tide.

In Class 1, Phil Eagleton and Nigel Waterhouse’s Chia Chia came first on handicap, with Neil Thomas’ Prima 38 Mighty Max 2 taking second place only 2 seconds ahead of Nick Ogden’s J109 Ulula. In Class 2, Michael Inman’s Sigma 33 Musketeer took first place and in Class 3 Richard Baldwin’s Superseal Tango came first.

Back at the Marina Bar, once the race results had been announced, the series results were announced and Charles Davenport from Dolphin Sails kindly awarded the prizes for first, second and third place in each class.
