Fogh continues to lead Soling Worlds

by Matias Collins on 22 Oct 2006
With the wind returning to normal after the sudden storm that sunk two boats on the previous day, only two races were sailed this Saturday at the Soling World Championship in an inconsistent wind. The Canadian team of Hans Fogh, Roger Cheer and Gordon Devries lead the event with 17 points.

Marine Pool team GER 300 with Koch, Koch and Bornemann won the first race followed by the Slovenian team, SLO 1 with Antoncic, Strakh, Hmeljak in second place and the Canadian CAN 225 with Hall, Karrigan, Deakin in third.

The second race saw the team from Connecticut, USA 831 Gallowey, Steinborn, Anthony win the first ahead of the T-Systems team from Hungary with Wossala, Vezer, Nemeth. In third place were the leading GUL team from Canada, CAN 230 with Fogh, Cheer, Devries.

The Argentine team ARG 37 with Warburg, Smith, Lacour climbed to fourth place after achieving two fourth places in today's race.

Unfortunately the two boats that sank the previous day were not recovered and as a result of yesterday's stress the Banrisul team BRA 26 with the Ilha family had to abandon the first race and couldn't compete in the second due to a broken shroud.
