Group 4 Securicor joins Skandia Team GBR

Skandia Team GBR has announced that Group 4 Securicor (G4S) has joined its team as one of four silver sponsors, backing the British sailing team in their quest for gold in Beijing 2008 and on home waters in London 2012.

In pledging their support to Skandia Team GBR, G4S has committed to partnering the most successful Olympic medal winning sport for ‘Team GB’ at the past two Olympic Games in Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004. A trend that with G4S’ and other Team sponsors’ support, Skandia Team GBR are seeking to maintain when the next Olympic regatta sails out of Qingdao, China in 2008.

Stephen Park, Skandia Team GBR Team Manager, is in no doubt as to the benefit this new partnership will have for members of Skandia Team GBR’s Performance, Development and Transitional squads. Commenting at this weekend’s Skandia RYA Sail for Gold Regatta, held at Weymouth and Portland he said:

'We are very excited that G4S has agreed to join Skandia Team GBR. It is a real boost for all involved with the team and we look forward to working closely with them over the coming years.'

'Whilst their support and funding will help further enhance our performance programme, their first class security provision will also allow the team to focus on training and competing, secure in the knowledge that they and their boats are safe wherever we travel around the world.'

Exclusive Provider of Security Services to the team, G4S has already been working closely with Skandia Team GBR since early 2006, its unrivalled global presence providing vital security and on the ground solutions throughout the calendar.

A global leader in the provision of security services to sporting events around the world, G4S has supported the team at a number of regattas in locations as varied as Hyeres, South of France; Cowes, Isle of Wight and Qingdao, China. The recent Olympic test event in Qingdao provided both sailors and G4S security experts with invaluable insights ahead of the 2008 Games.

'As the market leader in the provision of security solutions, the opportunity to partner a world leading team who share the same vision and values as our own is extremely exciting for us. Skandia Team GBR provides us with the perfect platform from which to engage our employees and customers, whilst also raising awareness of the G4S brand with a wider audience.' commented Debbie McGrath, Group 4 Securicor Director of Communications.

Providing bespoke security solutions for the team at international regattas will allow G4S to further develop its expertise in the provision of security services to major sporting events and teams, building on the market-leading services that they already provide at events such as the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, Open Golf and Summer and Winter Olympics.
