Platu 25 World Championship- Day 1

by Event media on 29 Sep 2006
Platu 25 World Championship 2006 Maria Muina

We had to wait but it was worth the wait. Beautiful start for the Estrella Galicia´s Platú 25 World Championship in Vigo's bay, after cancelling the first start in the morning and having to wait until the afternoon for the two legs we had today with very good wind.

After competing in two separate teams (blue and yellow), each one with 41 boats, the joined results show the Movistar Vilagarcía, sailed by the spanish olympic sailors Anton Paz and Fernando Echavarri as the leaders, with the same four points as TNT – Fra Martina, from the italian Lorenzo Bressani.

Close behind them, with six points, a group of favorites: G&BL - Sandro Montefusco, Iberconsa - Roberto Bermudez de Castro, BMW Rex Motors - Manuel Weiller and german Joachin Hellmich - La Revoltosa. One point behind, Balearia - Gonzalo Araújo.

On Thursday, the committee will make a new draw to make the yellow and blue teams, so they will all compete against each other. That will be the last classification day to clasify for the Gold group that will fight for the World Cup on Friday and Saturday.
